Back order guide: how does it work?
What is a back order?
RIDEX's back order feature empowers businesses to effortlessly manage and track product availability. Customers can add any number of items to their cart, regardless of current stock levels. The system automatically splits the order, processing the items in stock for immediate shipping. All out-of-stock items are added to the back order, enabling customers to easily track restocks and place additional orders once products become available.
If you order more items than are available, the system will automatically split your basket into two parts:
In stock: items available for immediate shipping.
Back order: items that are out of stock but will be tracked for future availability.
Adding items to your basket
In stock: items go straight into your basket.
Out of stock: when you order a higher quantity than is available:
The system adds the available stock to your basket.
The remaining items are added to your back order.
Changing the quantity
If you change an item’s quantity, the system adjusts the back order accordingly.
Increase basket quantity: the excess is added to the back order.
Example: You change your basket quantity from 100 items to 150. 100 items go into your basket, and 50 go to the back order.Checkout & back order
When you proceed to the checkout, back order items are saved automatically when you click Proceed to Checkout
Viewing and managing back orders
Access back orders: go to your profile and click Back Order.
Manage items: you can delete items, add them to the basket, or request their availability if items remain out of stock.
Request updates: if an item is unavailable, click on Check with Manager to get the latest stock information.
Key benefits:
Seamless order management: keep operations running smoothly with automatic order splitting.
Easy tracking: view and manage all back order items under one section in your account.
Minimised delays: receive in-stock items sooner while waiting for back-ordered products.
Real-time transparency: get instant insights into stock availability and restock timelines.
This feature is designed to help businesses navigate inventory fluctuations, reduce disruptions, and secure essential products efficiently.
