How to use VIN search to find the right car part

Your VIN - Vehicle Identification Number - is a 17-character code unique to your car. It tells the system exactly which engine, transmission, body type, and factory options your vehicle has, so fitment results are far more precise than make/model alone.

• Log in to your RIDEX account.
• Enter your 17-character VIN in the field on any category or product page.
• Click Check fitment. Compatible parts are labelled instantly.

If your VIN matches several variants - one VIN range often covered multiple engines or trims - you'll be asked to pick the correct one. Once selected, fitment labels appear across the listing.

On a product page, the same VIN field gives you a green light – or a clear not compatible warning – before the part goes in your basket.

How to use OE / OEM number search

REMANUFACTURED ORIGINAL PARTS

This product line features professionally remanufactured original parts that are rigorously tested to ensure they meet the highest quality standards. Every component undergoes a meticulous restoration process and laboratory certification at our factory in the Czech Republic, ensuring the same reliability and performance as a brand-new original part.

Each RIDEX REMAN component goes through a structured, multi-stage remanufacturing process:

• Disassembly – the original part is fully stripped down to its individual components. This is a complete disassembly, not a partial inspection.
• Cleaning – all components are thoroughly cleaned, including sandblasting where necessary, to remove contamination and allow the underlying material to be inspected accurately.
• Inspection – every component is evaluated against defined quality criteria. Parts that do not meet the required standard are removed from the process and forwarded to recycling.
• Replacement of worn elements – all wear components are replaced with new ones as standard, including bearings, diodes, brushes, seals and other elements that are critical to performance and service life.
• Reassembly and testing – the component is reassembled and subjected to performance testing to confirm it meets original equipment specifications. Only parts that pass all quality checks are released under the RIDEX REMAN name.

A remanufactured part and a used part are not the same thing. A used part is removed from a vehicle and resold in its existing condition, with no guarantee of its remaining service life or performance. A RIDEX REMAN part is disassembled, inspected, rebuilt, and tested according to a defined quality standard. Worn or non-conforming elements are replaced. The finished component performs to original specifications.

Most RIDEX parts can be installed at home with standard tools and basic mechanical knowledge. The level of difficulty varies by category. For example, replacing a cabin filter, wiper blades, or bulbs requires no special skills, while fitting brake discs, suspension arms, or timing belts calls for more experience and the right equipment.

Before starting any installation, make sure to:

• Confirm the part is correct for your exact vehicle using the car selector or VIN search.
• Gather the right tools: socket set and torque wrench, screwdrivers, jack and axle stands, pliers and wire cutters, brake caliper piston tool for brake repairs, and penetrating oil for corroded fasteners.

• Make sure that the car is safely supported on axle stands before working underneath it.

Wheel bearing replacements, timing belt installations, and suspension adjustments require specialist tools or workshop equipment. It is therefore not recommended to carry out the job at home without the right setup. If you are unsure about any step in the installation process, it is always safest to have it done at a certified workshop.

The most frequent installation errors - and how to avoid them

• Wrong fitment – installing a part that is not compatible with your exact vehicle. Always verify compatibility using the car selector or registration search before ordering.

• Skipping the bedding-in process – new brake pads and discs require a break-in period. Hard braking immediately after an installation reduces the parts' lifespan significantly.
