A brake pad doesn't get much attention until it starts talking back. People start to notice when there’s a squeal at low speeds, the pedal travels further than usual, or a fine, grey dust keeps reappearing on the alloys right after a wash. By this point, the pad has usually already given up a fair amount of its original stopping power.
To close the gap long before these issues become service complaints, RIDEX has developed two brake pad lines covering the vast majority of European and Asian vehicles.
What's in the range?
The standard RIDEX line is engineered around quality friction compounds and has ECE R90 approval. For everyday driving, that translates to dependable, comfortable stopping power: pads that resist overheating, keep dust levels low, and operate quietly. That last point matters more than people may think, as noise complaints are among the most common reasons a customer returns to a garage after a brake service. Engineered to exact vehicle manufacturers' specifications, the pads fit seamlessly into the vehicle’s original brake system.
RIDEX PLUS is built for tougher requirements. It uses an optimised low-metallic compound designed for demanding driving conditions. Like the standard line, every part is ECE R90 approved. Designed to shorten braking distances, it maintains high efficiency and reliable heat dissipation under heavy loads, which is ideal for loaded vehicles, hilly routes, or stop-and-go traffic. Standard anti-squeal shims keep the brakes quiet throughout the pads’ service life, giving drivers a high-performance option that delivers when it matters most.
Manufacturing and quality
Whichever line you choose, all products undergo strict quality control. This includes checks for dimensional accuracy to ensure the pad sits flush against the caliper and disc. Even a millimetre of play can lead to vibration and uneven wear.
Thermal resistance is also tested against the kind of repeated heavy braking to prove the pads’ worth, which cannot be guaranteed by a list of specs alone. ECE R90 approval means that this is not RIDEX ‘marking its own homework’ – products are tested against an internationally applied external regulatory benchmark.
For workshops and distributors
RIDEX covers the everyday repair jobs – most of the work that goes through a garage or workshop every week. RIDEX PLUS, on the other hand, is the best option for customers who drive more kilometres than most, tow regularly, or simply ask for more than the standard when a quote is being written up. Using one supplier for both helps you keep the parts list short without leaving any gaps in your inventory.
